About me
Tijl Tytgat approaches creativity as a challenge to tradition, always seeking new ways to express craftsmanship. Born on August 28, 1993, he grew up immersed in woodworking as the fifth generation in his family. Unlike the generations before him, who focused on traditional techniques, Tijl strives to push boundaries and create pieces that contrast with established styles. Though he studied woodworking at school, his father was his greatest teacher, showing him how to honor the material while daring to reinvent it.
Over the past decade, Tijl has explored the intersection of design, music, and craftsmanship, always chasing authenticity and depth. Conventional, mass-produced furniture and predictable color schemes hold little appeal to him; instead, he strives for originality, warmth, and purpose in every piece.
This passion led him to found YGON Cabs, a company specializing in handcrafted wooden speaker cabinets for live musicians. Through this venture, Tijl has collaborated with prominent artists in the alternative rock scene, blending precision, artistry, and sound.
When not designing or building, he finds balance in nature. Camping, exploring, and reconnecting with the simplicity that continues to fuel his creative spirit.
"Each piece is a reflection
of its unique character
and the quiet joy I find in
the process of making.
I seek contrast in color,
light and shape."
- Tijl
